English Solitaire in birch/beech

€ 24,00

History: This game's name and shape are said to date back to the XVI century. Some scholars say that an explorer had once seen Native Americans play it with arrows instead of marbles. Others claim that it had been invented by Count Pelisson in a Bastille cell where he had been imprisoned by Louis XIV. Surely solitaire's success reached its apex in England during the Victorian age.

How to play: All the 33 holes, except for one, have a marble in them when the game starts. Each marble may be moved by jumping over the next one and landing in an empty hole. Marbles may move horizontally or vertically The "jumped over" marble is removed from the game. The goal is to remove all marbles except for one.
