History: Senet was the most important game in ancient Egypt. Traces of this old game have been discovered by archaeologists in temples and tombs, in which there are many wall paintings in which the dead person was playing Senet. Egyptian religious texts tell that even in the afterlife the dead people's souls kept on playing it.


How to play: Senet is a race game for two players. Each player moves its piece according to the score achieved by rolling four dice. Each die has 2 sides, a flat one and a curve one. The score is calculated as follows: 1 flat face up [1 point] - 2 flat faces up [2 points] - 3 flat faces up [3 points] - 4 flat faces up [4 points] - 4 curve faces up [6 points]. If one piece ends its movement in a space occupied by another player's piece, the latter is "attacked" and sent back to the newcomer's starting place. All pieces of the same colour standing in nearby spaces protect themselves from the opponent's attacks. The space marked with X is the trap: if a piece arrives here it is sent back to the starting space or, if it is not free, to the first free space. The spaces marked with the symbols "O, |||, ||" are "shelters" in which pieces cannot be attacked. If a player manages to put all of its pieces in the last row they can start to gradually withdraw them from the game as they reach the last space. The first player who manages to withdraw all of the pieces wins.
