Palm W&P
Palm Work & Project is a social non-profit cooperative company that has the purpose of developing and managing employment of disadvantaged people by means of different activities (Law no. 381of 1991). The cooperative company was born out of the efforts of Palm srl, a leading packaging manufacturing company, which wanted to acquire corporate social responsibility.
The roots of choosing to become a social enterprise has a strong ethical justification, the will to pursue accomplishment of a social mission:
- promoting skills and autonomy of employed people;
- promoting acquisition of a greater self esteem and active participation to production process;
- employment is, for disabled like for everybody else, a right that cannot be waived because it is a basic requirement for everyone's personal and existential achievement.
In Palm W&P's registered office in Viadana, near Mantua, we have built an Ecostore, a comfortable and well-fitted area run by company employees, in which we promote eco-friendly house, office, school and leisure products with low environmental impact and high social content.
These products are realised entirely by Palm W&P and other social cooperative companies in Italy with the purpose to start a promotion and cooperation network. In addition to that you will find also products that the major companies designed and built out of such materials as plastics, glass and milk cartons.
Palm W&P proposes and encourages use of FSC brand wooden products, since more FSC certified products mean more responsibly managed forests, more forests saved from indiscriminate exploitation, more forests kept away from the international illegally cut timber exploitation circuits, more forests in which the rights of the locals and of their governments are respected, more forests in which biodiversity protection is a priority, more protected forests.
This way Palm W&P thought to create a space dedicated to promotion and trade of low environmental impact and eco-sustainable products. In the area of this Ecostore near Mantua it is possible to enjoy educational films and videos for boys, school pupils, forums and meetings. The aim is to promote sustainable development and corporate social responsibility issues and involve companies and schools in the area.
